HTM Scholarly Advancement Fellowship
The Department of Hospitality & Tourism Management (HTM) prides itself on producing scholars who are ready to tackle the challenges of the future. Faculty, staff, and alumni are dedicated to supporting students’ academic and professional success. The HTM Scholarly Advancement Fellowship was created to encourage and advance undergraduate scholarly research and activities, allowing students to dive deeper into industry-related subject matters that interest them and will provide academic and professional growth.
Students must be sophomores when they apply (fall semester) and must be on-campus HTM majors at the time they apply and remain in the major during the fellowship period, which shall run for a complete calendar year commencing in January. Students must design and implement a project related to our industry that will provide them scholarly advancement. Student must do two reports that will be shared with the HTM Advisory board (generally to coincide with the June and November board meetings). A faculty member will be assigned to assist the student.
• The application will be assessed based on the overall merit of the application including but not limited to the students’ proposed project and use of the funds.
• While the scholarship is not needs based, need is one criteria which may be considered.
• While the scholarship is not academic based, academic performance is one criteria which may be considered.
• The fellowship is renewable; students may re-apply the following year to continue the project if desired.
If awarded, students agree to share bio and/or announcement at the HTM Annual Alumni Event.
