Scott J. Simenas Undergraduate Physics Teaching Fellowship Fund

Established to provide annual awards for up to two undergraduate physics majors to serve as assistant teachers and tutors to undergraduate students of any major who are enrolled in physics courses. Fund recipients shall be juniors or seniors who have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3 and demonstrate high financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office. Preference will be given to U.S. citizens or eligible non-citizens, as outlined by the U.S. Department of Education.

  1. Please submit the name and email address of your faculty sponsor.
  2. Describe your proposed plan for teaching, mentoring or tutoring. It should state clearly what your goal is, what group(s) of students might benefit from it, and what the proposed activities are.
  3. Describe how your propsed plan benefits your own career goals.
  4. Though a budget is not required with the application, department funds may be available if the proposed activities have a cost. In such a case, please provide an estimate and a brief justification of the items. Examples include supplies, refreshments, or modest travel costs for a group.
  5. Provide the name and contact information of one reference, that is not your faculty sponsor, who can address your ability to carry out your proposed project.
