Student Parent Programs - Child Care Subsidy Program

Student Parent Programs awards funding to undergraduate and graduate student parents through our CCAMPIS and SPP Child Care Tuition Assistance Programs to help reduce the out-of-pocket cost of child care and help students focus on their educational goals. Eligibility for our subsidies is based on need, determined by several factors, including part time/full time status, and documented financial need (verified through US tax forms, the FAFSA, or other documentation for those who are not eligible to complete a FAFSA.)

To qualify for Student Parent Programs child care subsidies, students must be caring for a dependent child at least part-time in their custody, must be actively enrolled in a degree program at UMass Amherst as an undergraduate or graduate student on a part-time or full-time basis, and must meet the financial eligibility criteria for program participants – similar to Pell grant income eligibility, determined through Financial Aid Services and tax return documentation.

Child care expenses can include daycare, pre-k, before and after school programs, and summer child care through EEC licensed or nationally accredited providers. Some babysitting, home-based non-EEC licensed care, and other informal child care may also qualify for limited funding. Please note that the majority of our funds are restricted by our funding source to licensed or accredited providers only.

If your application indicates that you are eligible to receive a federal CCAMPIS subsidy you may be able to participate in that program throughout your time here at the university. CCAMPIS participation will be discussed with you in more detail if you qualify for that program.

CCAMPIS child care subsidies are paid directly to your licensed child care provider while CCTA funds are awarded via student bursar accounts as a reimbursement for documented expenses. Subsidies will be determined based on applicant demonstrated need and may be adjusted based on funds available within the program or a change to applicant’s status.

If you do not have a dependent child, please do not submit an application for this scholarship.

As you complete the application, please consider all options that will allow you the best chance of success in your degree program this year. Your childcare plan may include a mix of several types of childcare options – please include all that you anticipate utilizing this year.
