Attorney Henry L. Barr, '68 and Mrs. Andrea R. Barr, '68
Henry L. Barr was born in Boston, Massachusetts and was admitted to the Massachusetts and Federal District Bar, 1973. He received his B.A. with honors from University of Massachusetts-Amherst in 1968, and received his J.D. from Boston College Law School in 1972, where he served as Editor of The Environmental Law Review. Mr. Barr went on to receive his MBA from Suffolk University, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1979. After becoming a practicing attorney, he began his legal career as a Law Clerk to the Chief Justice of the Superior Court for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. In 1978 he was appointed to the position of Administrator of Courts for Massachusetts which he held from 1978 to 1991. Mr. Barr has served on numerous Committees and Boards including: President, Massachusetts Lender’s Association; Advisory Committee of The Judicial Training Institute; Member of Massachusetts Bar Association where he was a recipient of 21st Century Award. In the field of non-profit and philanthropy, Mr. Barr has served in numerous roles including as President of the West End Boys and Girls Club of Allston, 2001-2004; Board of Directors, UMass Amherst Foundation, 2004-Present; Board of Trustees of the Metrowest Community Health Care Foundation, 2004-Present; and Board of Advisors for the UMass Amherst center for Public Policy and Administration, 2003-Present. Mr. Barr has acted as consultant and counsel to several lending companies from 1973 to the present. Mr. Barr resides in Framingham, Massachusetts.
