Mrs. Vivian B. Biron

Mrs. Vivian B. Biron

Roger C. Biron was born in North Adams, Massachusetts in 1922. He was an outstanding student at Drury High School in North Adams. He attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst between 1940 and 1943 as an English major, but left when his U.S. Army Reserve unit was called to active duty in World War II. Although he completed his degree at New York University, his affection for UMass Amherst and for North Adams, Massachusetts remained. He loved reading, music and travel. He played the piano and sang mellifluously. He traveled widely in Europe with many stays in Italy and Switzerland. Roger occasionally had strong opinions, which he expressed quietly and rationally. He was a knowledgeable, caring, and gentle man. He died in Leonia, New Jersey in 2010, at age 88.
