Ms. Debra L. Ankeles and Mrs. Susan Wilchins

This scholarship was established by Debra L. Ankeles and Susan Ankeles Wilchins in memory of their parents Morris J. Ankeles ’50 and Frances “Faye” Siagel ’48. Morris and Frances, who were both the children of immigrant parents and of modest backgrounds, came to the University of Massachusetts Amherst where they met in French class. Even after marrying, raising their family, and together establishing the Lakeside School in Peabody, Massachusetts, they maintained an abiding interest in and affection for UMass Amherst and cherished all that their education provided them. The Donors, in memory of their beloved parents established this endowed fund known as the Morris & Frances Ankeles Educational Scholarship.
