Gaspare G. Panciocco Firefighters Scholarship Fund

Established in memory of Gaspare “Cass” G. Panciocco who was a WWII combat veteran in the medical corps and a career Boston Fire Fighter. He was a hero to many throughout his life, saving many lives both as a medic and a firefighter. He had five children who thought he was bigger than life and who have decided to establish this scholarship to assist his firefighting brothers and sisters with the educational expenses of their children. Mr. Panciocco had enjoyed his trips to UMass Amherst when he visited his son and friends and seemed to enjoy the campus and the college lifestyle, which he never had a chance to experience. The scholarship supports students who have a parent who currently serves or has served as a Massachusetts Fire Fighter. Students must be in good academic standing and have demonstrated financial need, as reflected in their aid application to the Financial Aid Office.
