David Lenson Fellowship (Graduate Students)

This fellowship supports language study and/or field work abroad. Applicants must have completed at least one year of course work in the Comparative Literature graduate program without incompletes. They should demonstrate at minimum an intermediate level in the language of the destination country. Preference will be given to candidates who are seeking to obtain advanced proficiency in a third language.

Please write a narrative statement (400-600 words) addressing the following questions: a) Describe the study abroad experience or field work you are planning for the next calendar year (including summer and winter breaks). b) During which semester or semesters will your study abroad experience occur? Fall, Winter (January), Spring, Summer, Academic Year, Other. c) In which country or countries will your studies be based? d) Will you be enrolled at an educational institution or a language school? Please specify which. e) Describe what you hope to accomplish by studying abroad. Explain how your experience relates to or will help you achieve your personal and/or professional goals.

  5. Have you checked with the Office of Global Affairs that it is safe to travel to your country of destination and that there are no travel restrictions? Please remember that we cannot provide funding for countries that are not safe to travel to.
