Edith Robinson Scholarship
The Graduate School invites applications for the 2021-22 Edith Robinson Fellowship. This fellowship comes from a generous bequest by Ms. Robinson to the University and is limited by the bequest to residents of New Hampshire or Vermont who will have completed at least one year of graduate study by the end of the 2021-21 academic year. The Fellowship is also limited to students who are pursuing research in health sciences, environmental sciences, or psychology. I am writing to you because you have one or more students in your department who may meet these eligibility requirements (see list at the end of this message).
The 2020-21 Robinson Fellowship is valued at approximately $27,000. The fellowship may be split among two deserving candidates; both the full and half value of the fellowship is sufficient to provide a tuition credit for both semesters of the 2021-22 academic year. The fellowship does not cover health insurance or other graduate fees.
Applications are due on or before Thursday, April 15, 2021. All materials must be submitted via UMass’s AcademicWorks system; submit materials as follows:
1. Complete the general application questions as posted in AcademicWorks.
2. Upload a one-page narrative (single-spaced, 12 pt. font). Write for a general audience using non-technical language and address the following: What do you seek to accomplish with your research? (i.e., what are your research questions/aims/objectives?) How will you accomplish this? (i.e., what research methods will you use?) What contribution(s) will this research make? How would the financial support of the Robinson Fellowship impact your graduate studies?
3. Upload a current CV
4. Upload a current unofficial transcript (available via SPIRE)
5. A letter of recommendation from the student’s advisor describing the potential contributions of the student’s research and quality of the student’s work in the graduate program. (The applicant will enter the advisor’s name and contact information in AcademicWorks, which will generate an email to the advisor requesting the letter.)
